Service Sector is fast growing in India. It constitutes more than half of India's
GDP. The average growth rate for services in India is much higher than that of Industry
and Agriculture. The fast growing service sector includes IT, Banking and Financial
Services, Insurance, HealthCare, Retailing, Tourism and Hotels, Media and Entertainment,
Real Estate, Management consultancy, Transportation and Logistics etc. Keeping in
view of the growing importance of service sector and its demand for professionally
trained personnel Center for Service Management has been set up as part of NIILM
CMS. The major objectives of the Center for Service Management are :
To encourage offering post graduate programmes in Banking and Financial Services,
Retailing, Insurance, health Care Management and other sectors
• To promote scholarly research, especially interdisciplinary research that contribute
to the global competitiveness of service sector
• To conduct executive development programme for practising managers working in
different service industries
• To offer consultancy services to improve service management • To establish links
with other Centers of management in India and abroad
• To develop case studies and teaching materials on service management and develop
cutting edge methodologies for teaching and research
• To become a leading School in knowledge development and dissemination in areas
relating to service sector
